The agreement between you and Keeda Studios for using Matcha Chat.

1. Agreement

By using Matcha Chat you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. This agreement is between you and Keeda Studios — not with Apple or Google. See section 11.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has given you permission.

3. What the app does

Matcha Chat teaches Japanese through a scrolling feed of cards: words and phrases from real situations, quizzes, listening practice, pronunciation scored against a native reference, and games and daily puzzles built from the words you have met. Every word is shown in romaji first, with the kana and kanji a tap away.

Pronunciation scoring is a learning aid, not an assessment. It will sometimes be wrong. Do not rely on it as proof of language ability, and do not rely on the app for anything where being misunderstood matters — medical, legal or emergency situations included.

4. Your account

• An anonymous account is created when you first open the app, so your progress can be saved.
• You may optionally sign in with Google or Apple to keep your progress across devices.
• You are responsible for the security of the Google or Apple account you sign in with.
• You can delete your account at any time — see deleting your account.

5. What it costs

Your first week is free, and every chapter is open. For seven days from the first time you open the app you can use all of it. No account and no payment details are needed, and nothing is charged when the week ends.

After the week, the first three chapters stay free. The remaining chapters, the feed and the games lock until you buy Lifetime Access. Everything you learned in the week is kept.

Lifetime Access — a single payment of $17.99 (or the local equivalent set by the store) unlocks every remaining chapter, permanently, and adds 1,000 pronunciation credits.

• There are no subscriptions. Nothing auto-renews and nothing recurs. You will not be charged again.
• The free week never converts into a charge. When it ends, the app asks whether you want to buy. Nothing happens if you say no.
• Prices are set per country by Apple and Google and may differ from the figure above.
• Payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card details.

Pronunciation credits

Pronunciation scoring runs on our servers and costs us money per attempt, so it is metered in credits. New users get 100 credits free. Lifetime Access adds 1,000. Further credit packs can be bought separately. Every other part of the app — the feed, quizzes, listening practice, review, games — is unmetered and unlimited.

Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred between accounts.

6. Refunds

Purchases are made through Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them, under their policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com on iOS, or through the Play Store on Android.

Tell us as well at support@keedastudios.com and we will help where we can. None of this affects your statutory rights under consumer law where you live — including, in the UK and EEA, the right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days unless you have already begun using it.

Credits already spent are not refundable, since the analysis they paid for has been done. Unspent credits stay on your account.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Copy, resell or redistribute the app's lessons, audio or content
• Reverse engineer the app or try to bypass payment or credit limits
• Use automated tools to hit our servers, or to consume credits you did not pay for
• Abuse, threaten or harass anyone through the in-app support chat
• Use the app for anything unlawful

We may suspend or end your access if you do. Where we do, and you have paid, we will refund the unused portion unless the breach was deliberate.

8. Our content

The chapters, audio, pronunciation guides, artwork and software are owned by Keeda Studios and protected by copyright. Buying Lifetime Access buys you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them in the app. It does not transfer ownership of anything.

9. Availability

We aim to keep the app working but do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free. Pronunciation scoring depends on third-party services and an internet connection, and can be unavailable. We may change or remove features, though we will not remove chapters you have paid to unlock.

10. Liability

The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us, if any.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights.

11. Apple and Google

These Terms are between you and Keeda Studios only. Apple and Google are not parties to them and have no responsibility for the app.

• Keeda Studios, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Keeda Studios, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide either.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• Keeda Studios, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights, and for product liability and consumer protection claims.
• You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and on your acceptance may enforce them against you as such.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and any legal action will be brought in courts located in California. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country or of the right to bring proceedings there.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. The date above will change, and where the change is significant we will ask you to accept it the next time you open the app. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept them.
